Morning Worship Service on The Lord's Day, June 14, 2026

For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. (Psalm 107:9)

Prelude

Welcome and Announcements

The Voluntary for Silent Prayer

*Call to Worship: Psalm 23

Minister: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

People: He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Minister: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

People: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Unison: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

*Hymn of Adoration: “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” (SH No. 529)

1 The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine forever.

2 Where streams of living water flow, my ransomed soul he leadeth,
and where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth.

3 Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me,
and on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me.

4 In death's dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me.

5. Thou spread'st a table in my sight; thine unction grace bestoweth,
and oh! what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth.

6. And so throughout the length of days thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.

*Prayer of Adoration and Congregational Prayer

Unison: Gracious Father, in the presence of our enemies, you have prepared a table for us. While the Accuser and his demons look on in helpless rage, we sit down to feast on the Bread of Life and drink of the Living Water. Our cups run over, and we are more than satisfied. For you are the giver of abundant life, and at your table are fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. We thank you that, through the blood of your Son, we have a place at this table. We were once your enemies and children of wrath, but you have made us your children and welcome guests. You have anointed us with your Spirit, and we now dwell in your presence, surrounded by your goodness and steadfast love. O Father, may we ever hunger and thirst for this feast of righteousness. In the name of your Son we come to you. Amen.

*Confession of Faith (Heidelberg Catechism 75)

Minister: How does the Lord's supper signify and seal to you that you share in Christ's one sacrifice on the cross and in all his gifts?

People: In this way: Christ has commanded me and all believers to eat of this broken bread and drink of this cup in remembrance of him. With this command he gave these promises: First, as surely as I see with my eyes the bread of the Lord broken for me and the cup given to me, so surely was his body offered for me and his blood poured out for me on the cross. Second, as surely as I receive from the hand of the minister and taste with my mouth the bread and the cup of the Lord as sure signs of Christ's body and blood, so surely does he himself nourish and refresh my soul to everlasting life with his crucified body and shed blood.

Unison: Thanks be to God!

*Gloria Patri (Tune: “Gloria Patri, Greatorex”)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be;
World without end. Amen. Amen

Old Testament Reading: Psalm 36:7-12
New Testament Reading: John 6:35-40

Hymn of Response: “Come, Ye Sinners” (SH No. 98)

1 Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you, full of pity, love, and pow'r.

Chorus
I will arise and go to Jesus; he will embrace me in his arms;
in the arms of my dear Savior, oh, there are ten thousand charms.

2 Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome, God's free bounty glorify;
true belief and true repentance, ev'ry grace that brings you nigh.

3 Come, ye weary, heavy-laden, lost and ruined by the fall;
if you tarry till you're better, you will never come at all.

4 Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness fondly dream;
all the fitness he requireth is to feel your need of him.

Public Confession

Unison: Most holy and merciful Father, I confess that too often I do not hunger and thirst for righteousness. I do not feast on you, the Bread of Life. Instead, I seek to satisfy my soul with the pleasures of the world. And then, empty and dissatisfied, I live without joy. Undernourished and weak, I serve without your strength. Infected by sin, I do not walk worthy of your glorious gospel: my relationships are not characterized by love, my work is not motivated by your glory, and my worship is lacking in holiness and sincerity. Father, forgive me for the sake of your dear Son, my Savior! Amen.

Private Confession

Pastoral Prayer

Promise of the Gospel

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit. I Peter 3:18

*Hymn of Praise: “My Hope Is in the Lord” (TH No. 523)

1 My Hope is in the Lord,
who gave Himself for me
And paid the price of all my sin at Calvary.

Refrain
For me He died; For me He lives,
And everlasting life and light He freely gives.

2 No merit of my own
His anger to suppress,
My only hope is found in Jesus' righteousness

3 And now for me He stands
before the Father's throne;
He shows His wounded hands and names me as His own.

4 His grace has planned it all,
'Tis mine but to believe
And recognize His work of love and Christ receive.

Worship of God through Tithes and Offerings

*Doxology (Tune: “Old Hundredth”)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen!

*Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication

*Reading of The Holy Scriptures: Luke 22:14-23

Minister: This is the Word of God.

Unison: Thanks be to God for his Word!

*The Prayer for Illumination

Sermon: “Jesus, Our Host” (Rev. Deren Harper)

Hymn of Confession: “Amidst Us Our Beloved Stands” (TH No. 427)

1 Amidst us our Beloved stands, and bids us view his pierced hands;
points to the wounded feet and side, blest emblems of the Crucified.

2 What food luxurious loads the board, when at this table sits the Lord!
The wine how rich, the bread how sweet, when Jesus deigns the guests to meet!

3 If now, with eyes defiled and dim, we see the signs, but see not him;
O may his love the scales displace, and bid us see him face to face!

4 O glorious Bridegroom of our hearts, your present smile a heav’n imparts!
O lift the veil, if veil there be, let every saint your glory see!

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper

Invitation and Instructions

All who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized and who are communicant members in good standing in an evangelical church are invited to come to participate in this sacred Sacrament of the Church. This is not a Presbyterian table, and we do not restrict it as such; it is the Lord’s Table. However, the church alone grants access to the table and must guard it from the leaven of unrighteousness (1 Cor. 5:6-8). Therefore, if you have not repented and trusted in Christ or if you are harboring sin in your life or if there is anyone with whom you are not at peace with so far as it depends on you (Rom. 12:18), please do not participate in this meal. We invite you instead to use this time to reflect and ask God to speak to your heart and give you more light and understanding. Children who have not been admitted to the table by the church should also refrain from partaking of the Supper.

For those who prefer, the outer ring of the tray is grape juice. The bread is gluten free. Please hold the bread and cup until all have been served so that we may partake together.

*Departing Hymn: “Man of Sorrows! What a Name” (TH No. 246)

1 Man of Sorrows! what a name for the Son of God, who came
ruined sinners to reclaim: Hallelujah! what a Savior!

2 Bearing shame and scoffing rude, in my place condemned he stood,
sealed my pardon with his blood: Hallelujah! what a Savior!

3 Guilty, vile, and helpless, we; spotless Lamb of God was he;
full atonement! can it be? Hallelujah! what a Savior!

4 Lifted up was he to die, "It is finished!" was his cry:
now in heav'n exalted high: Hallelujah! what a Savior!

5 When he comes, our glorious King, all his ransomed home to bring,
then anew this song we'll sing: Hallelujah! what a Savior!

*The Benediction

Postlude
