Unison: Gracious Father and Lord, we confess that we have not feared you as we ought, nor have we kept your commandments. Though we call you our sovereign King and Creator, we often live as though people are great and you are small. Though we believe you are all-powerful, all-wise, and only good, we place our trust and hope in ourselves or in others, instead of in you alone. Though you have loved us and given your Son to die for us, we are afraid to face the scorn or disfavor of others for your sake.
Father, we come to you in repentance. In your compassion, have mercy on us and forgive all our sins. May your presence give us courage, your love move us to obedience, and your truth strengthen us to walk in your ways and to live in the fear of the Lord.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, our risen Savior. Amen.
