261011: Worship Bulletin
He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:
that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. (I Corinthians 15:3-4)
Prelude
King of my life I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be;
lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, lead me to Calvary.
Lest I forget Gethsemane, lest I forget Thine agony,
lest I forget Thy love for me, lead me to Calvary.
Let me like Mary, through the gloom, come with a gift to Thee;
show to me now the empty tomb, lead me to Calvary.
Welcome and Announcements
The Voluntary for Silent Prayer
*Call to Worship: Psalm 18:1-3, 46
Minister: I love you, O Lord, my strength.
People: The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
Minister: my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
People: my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Minister: I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
Unison: The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation!
*Hymn of Adoration: “I Know That My Redeemer Lives—Glory, Hallelujah!” (TH No. 281)
1 I know that my Redeemer lives–
glory, hallelujah!
What comfort this sweet sentence gives–
glory, hallelujah!
Refrain:
Shout on, pray on, we're gaining ground–
glory, hallelujah!
The dead's alive and the lost is found–
glory, hallelujah!
2 He lives, he lives, who once was dead–
glory, hallelujah!
He lives, my everlasting Head–
glory, hallelujah! [Refrain]
3 He lives, to bless me with his love–
glory, hallelujah!
He lives to plead for me above–
glory, hallelujah! [Refrain]
4 He lives, all glory to his name!-
glory, hallelujah!
He lives, my Jesus, still the same-
glory, hallelujah! [Refrain]
*Prayer of Adoration and Congregational Invocation
Unison: O Risen Redeemer: You are Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, who is and who was and who is to come. You died, but now you are alive forever more! And you love us and have freed us from our sins by your blood and have made us a kingdom, priests to your God and Father. To you be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
*Confession of Faith (Heidelberg Catechism 45)
Minister: How does Christ's resurrection benefit us?
People: First, by his resurrection he has overcome death, so that he could make us share in the righteousness which he had obtained for us by his death. Second, by his power we too are raised up to a new life. Third, Christ's resurrection is to us a sure pledge of our glorious resurrection.
Unison: Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
*Gloria (Tune: “Regent Square”)
Glory be to Him who loved us, washed us from each sinful stain;
Glory be to Him who made us priests and kings with him to reign;
Glory, worship, honor, blessing to the Lamb who once was slain.
Old Testament Reading: Psalm 16:5-11
New Testament Reading: I Peter 1:3-8
Hymn of Response: “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death” (SH No. 183)
1 What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.
Chorus
Oh, sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal;
oh, sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.
2 What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer's blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
unto the shore, the rock of Christ?
3 Unto the grave, what will we sing?
"Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!"
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
then sin and death will be destroyed,
and we will feast in endless joy,
when Christ is ours forevermore.

Public Confession
Minister: In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
People: Holy Lord, I have sinned times without number and been guilty of pride and unbelief, of failure to find your mind in your Word, of neglect to see you in my daily life. My transgressions and shortcomings present me with a list of accusations. But I bless you that they will not stand against me, for all have been laid on Christ. Purge me from every deceitful desire, every corrupt ambition, everything contrary to your rule. In the blessed name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Promise of the Gospel
Minister: Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
People: Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!
*Hymn of Thanksgiving: “What Wondrous Love Is This” (SH No. 817)
1 What wondrous love is this,
O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this,
O my soul!
What wondrous love is this,
that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse
for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse
for my soul.
2 When I was sinking down,
sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down,
O my soul!
When I was sinking down
beneath God's righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown
for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside his crown
for my soul.
3 To God and to the Lamb
I will sing, I will sing;
to God and to the Lamb I will sing.
To God and to the Lamb
who is the great "I AM,"
while millions join the theme,
I will sing, I will sing,
while millions join the theme,
I will sing.
4 And when from death I'm free,
I'll sing on, I'll sing on,
and when from death I'm free,
I'll sing on.
And when from death I'm free,
I'll sing and joyful be;
and through eternity,
I'll sing on, I'll sing on,
and through eternity,
I'll sing on.

2 Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Were you there when he rose up from the grave?
The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper
Invitation and Instructions
All who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized and who are communicant members in good standing in an evangelical church are invited to come to participate in this sacred Sacrament of the Church. This is not a Presbyterian table, and we do not restrict it as such; it is the Lord’s Table. However, the church alone grants access to the table and must guard it from the leaven of unrighteousness (1 Cor. 5:6-8). Therefore, if you have not repented and trusted in Christ or if you are harboring sin in your life or if there is anyone with whom you are not at peace with so far as it depends on you (Rom. 12:18), please do not participate in this meal. We invite you instead to use this time to reflect and ask God to speak to your heart and give you more light and understanding. Children who have not been admitted to the table by the church should also refrain from partaking of the Supper.
For those who prefer, the outer ring of the tray is grape juice. The bread is gluten free. Please hold the bread and cup until all have been served so that we may partake together.
*Departing Hymn: “Thine Be the Glory” (SH No. 841)
1 Thine be the glory,
risen, conqu'ring Son;
endless is the vict'ry
thou o'er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment
rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes
where thy body lay.
Refrain
Thine be the glory,
risen, conqu'ring Son;
endless is the vict'ry
thou o'er death hast won!
2 Lo! Jesus meets us,
risen from the tomb.
Lovingly he greets us,
scatters fear and gloom;
let his church with gladness
hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord now liveth;
death hath lost its sting.
3 No more we doubt thee,
glorious Prince of life!
Life is naught without thee;
aid us in our strife;
make us more than conqu'rors,
through thy deathless love;
bring us safe through Jordan
to thy home above.
